THE OPPORTUNITY
Caressant Care is seeking a Clinical Educator to drive the evaluation and sustainability of clinical documentation initiatives to enhance care quality and resident experience at Caressant Care. This role supports both Nursing and Retirement Homes by ensuring alignment with legislative standards and regulatory requirements, fostering compliance, and promoting best practices in care delivery across the organization.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Lead Clinical Education and Curriculum Development
- Oversee and enhance clinical education programs, including curriculum design and implementation, in partnership with the Director of Operations and Director of Professional Practice to ensure programs meet legislative standards and drive improvements in care quality
Deliver Training and Education
- Provide effective remote and in-person education to interdisciplinary teams, focusing on clinical skills and expanding the scope of practice for registered staff
Develop and Assess Policies
- Contribute to the creation, evaluation, and practical application of corporate policies and procedures within the Homes, ensuring they support effective clinical practices
Identify Needs and Implement Action Plans
- Conduct ongoing needs assessments to pinpoint knowledge and skill gaps. Collaborate with the Operations team to develop and implement targeted action plans to address these gaps
Participate in Strategic Planning and Meetings
- Engage in strategic planning for program development and actively participate in corporate clinical meetings with Home-level Nursing Managers to ensure program alignment and address emerging issues
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Registration and Experience
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) in good standing, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in clinical education experience, preferably including long-term care
- A strong background in adult education principles and curriculum development, with a proven ability to design and deliver effective training programs
Knowledge
- In-depth understanding of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Retirement Homes Regulatory Act, CNO standards, and other relevant legislation.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office. Experience with PointClickCare and SURGE online learning platforms is an asset
Clinical and Industry
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical concepts, care processes, and information systems
- Ability to lead strategies that address clinical gaps and enhance practices
Skills and Interpersonal Abilities
- Exceptional skills in communication, organization, presentation, and problem-solving. Proven ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization
This is a full-time permanent position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will require a current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
